A Day Trip To Lake Argyle

Lake Argyle is nearly on everyone’s bucket list and for very good reasons. The scenic views are beautiful from where ever you go in the area. The great thing about Lake Argyle is that there are plenty of off-road driving trails that you can go down and explore, some leading you to some beautiful lookout points that only a handful of people have visited.

Here I have listed some of our favourite things to do when visiting Lake Argyle.

Lake Argyle Infinity Pool

I bet at some stage you have seen this iconic photo and have added it to your bucket list of places to see and do. I agree, yes keep it on your bucket list! It is absolutely one of a kind and is beautiful. The pool is located inside the caravan park and tickets need to be purchased from the reception area to swim in the pool.

Argyle Dam Wall

Now, this might seem trivial but Lake Argyle is Western Australia’s largest and Australia’s second-largest freshwater man-made reservoir. It is absolutely massive and the scenic views that surround the lake are mesmerizing. So grabbing a photo while sitting on the wall was on the list for us to get.

Durack Homestead Museum

If you are wanting to learn more about the dam and a refresher of history then head to the museum. The old building has been preserved and for a small price, you can visit and have a small tour by the lovely staff. Children are welcomed too.

Pannikin Lookout

This lookout was the last lookout we did before leaving and driving back to Kununurra, we are so glad we pushed through and did it. The 4wd drive got us through some dips and over some big rocks but at the end was a beautiful view overlooking the lake. Highly recommend.
